Owasippe Scout Reservation is a summer camp for Boy Scouts located just outside
Muskegon, Michigan, in Whitehall. For one, sometimes two weeks, troops of Boy Scouts camp there to earn merit badges
and have fun. It is America's oldest Scout camp; founded in 1911, it consists of over 5,000 acres of rolling hlls,
forests, crystal clear lakes, and streams in the heart of Michigan's water wonderland. It is owned and operated by the
Chicago Area Council, however, all Scouts from other councils throughout the nation as well as from foreign countries
are welcome at Owasippe.
The staff is unique conglomeration of former campers and leaders. People from all
backgrounds, cultures, and countries are stuffed into one Reservation for two months. Some have met their spouses there, others
have met life-long friends, but all have had a life-changing experience.
