The reporters were fired, but not before the station offered them lots of money to leave and never talk about the facts of the story or the fact that corporate pressure was brought to bear to kill the story.
Monsanto, the maker of rBGH, and the company that stands to loose millions if the public refuses to accept its product in their milk, was the source of the pressure that convinced top management at Fox Television that they must kill the story. Monsanto also is or was the maker of aspartame, (NutraSweet), which, any interested sixth-grader could determine through controlled experiments, converts to formaldehyde, formic acid, and methanol at room temperature, and more quickly at higher temperatures.
I had to remove CNN from my channel scan when I saw that their segue to commercial had itself become a commercial. I find the creeping commercialism into every aspect of our lives to be a highly offensive and disturbing phenomenon. This segue showed schoolgirls playing a clapping game. They were singing, 'I wish I were an Oscar Meyer weiner'. There must be hundreds of clapping game songs that little girls might sing that would not remind me of oppression, suffering, concentration camps, waste of resources, disease. I am sure that those girls probably knew at least a few of them. I wish that CNN had chosen to let me hear one of those instead.
