A Perennial Garden in May

Our front yard is quite lacking in colour early in the spring. Aside from a bit of colour in March, the first thing to bloom this May were these Snow-in-Summer (Cerastium tomentosum). The silvery gray-green foliage is highlighted by
star-shaped, white blossoms. I think I will divide these this summer and place more of them around the yard. The white would help brighten up the shady areas.
But as May progresses, the front is slowly but surely gaining a bit of color. The chives are a great perennial. This chive plant is about four years old now and is finally putting on a great show of purple flowers. To the left of it is a small rose bush that is just beginning to bloom.
The Sea Thrift are also starting to bloom.  They too are about 3 years old and finally taking off. We buy all our perennial in the small sizes, so it takes a while for some purchases to pay off.  You can also see one of the many pansies that seem to self seed themselves, some of the larger pansies last over the winter and come back in the spring.  The velvety silver leaves are ?? which I've sown around the yard from seeds from one plant that was in the front yard.
These Johnny Jump Ups also self seed and come back year after year.

The sage is just starting to bloom. This plant is a very large one, about 4 feet wide and 3-4 feet high. It has been left to grow wild for a few years now.
4A Pink Panda strawberry plant. This plant has also spread quite well, sending out runners to make new plants.
