Expressed And Proved
Love can be expressed by words : both written and spoken.
But only by your actions and attitudes may it truly be proven.
You can say what you wish, and it may be believed,
But it will all come to nothing if your heart does not show love.
Genocide
Why is there such killing?
Why so many dead?
Why can we not talk,
And sort our differences instead?
Such brutality and hatred.
So much violence and pain.
But have we learned the lessons,
Or will it happen once again?
So many huddled in the Churches,
All afraid of what might await.
None aware of the awful slaughter,
Which would turn out to be their fate.
All the bodies lying broken,
Slaughtered, twisted, left to die.
Such a waste of human life, Lord,
And we're left to ask the question, Why?
Put a stop to senseless killing.
Call a halt to greed and pride.
Help us to be more forgiving.
Erase all thoughts of Genocide.
If we fall into those traps, Lord,
Help us out, show us the way.
Fill our minds with joy and love,
And let them show in all we say.
Give us peace to live our lives by.
Give us love along the way.
Take away the sickening thoughts,
And help us reconcile today.
If You Should Fall
If you should fall,
I will be there, and I'll pick you up.
If you should call,
I'll be listening, and I will answer.
If you are ill,
I'll nurse you through, until you're well.
If you are sad,
I'll listen, and I'll try to cheer you up.
If you are happy,
I will be there, and I'll share your joy.
If you ever need a friend,
You know I will always be there.
Someone
Someone I enjoy being with;
Someone I'll be happy with;
I need someone who can make me laugh.
Someone to be a good friend to;
Someone I can talk to;
I need a friendship that will last.
Someone to have fun with;
Someone to spend time with;
I need someone I can care for.
Someone to show my affection to;
Someone to give my attention to;
I need someone I can be there for.
Always There
You were always there,
Through my despair,
You helped me to get through.
I sighed a lot,
And cried a lot,
But survived, all thanks to you.
We're Only Sleeping
In death, we're only sleeping;
You know we'll never part.
My love, please stop your weeping,
Bring peace back to your heart.
Please know I haven't left you,
Things are not as they would seem.
I'm still here right beside you,
You're simply in a dream.
When you wake I will still be here,
You'll see I haven't left.
Shed no more tears for me, my dear,
You'll no longer feel bereft.
When you wake, I shall embrace you,
Together once again.
You'll see you had been dreaming,
You'll forget about the pain.
Trapped Like A Fox
Please, can't somebody help me?
I'm trapped like a fox in a snare.
The more I wriggle, the more it hurts;
Oh somebody out there must care.
Please understand, I don't like it;
It's not something I want to go through.
I've tried and tried to remove it,
But there isn't a thing I can do.
Please, won't somebody stop it?
Stop all the bleeding and pain.
Someone remove this trap from my leg,
And let me run freely again.
Please, can't you see that I'm weakening?
Oh someone release me, I beg!
It seems the only way I will be free,
Is for someone to cut off my leg.
When Love Appears
When love appears, selfishness
just withers into nothingness,
and everything seems nothing less
than rosey and serene.
And as common-sense completes it's reign,
we sit and wait upon the pain,
we know that we shall feel again,
as we say things that we don't mean.
Gods Way
Just as a seed sits quietly,
Beneath the winter snow,
Waiting for the warmth to come,
Before it starts to grow.
So God's will shall hide itself,
In darkness and in light,
And it will only reveal itself,
When He knows the time is right.
If we ask God for butterflies
and He sends us caterpillars,
we know that, with patience and time,
eventually the butterflies will appear.
If we ask God for a rose
and He sends us a rose bulb,
we know that in time
a beautiful rose will appear.
God's way is always best.
I Have Felt Pain
Father, I have felt pain;
I have felt cold and weak;
I have felt lonely and abandoned;
And I have felt lost.
It seemed that you had disappeared.
Where did you go?
You were nowhere to be seen.
But no matter how much pain was inflicted;
No matter how cold I became or how lonely I felt -
I did not stray.
And because I did not stray,
I realised you hadn't abandoned me;
Yet, I could not see you. I was blind to you.
I started looking for you;
And I found you hiding:
Hiding behind trees and between stars;
Hiding in other peoples eyes and in their hearts.
The more I looked, the more I could see you.
You were everywhere.
You warmed me;
You gave me company.
You eased my pain.
You strengthened me.
You took my hand and led me back to the right path.
Father, keep me on that path.
Never abandon me, I pray.
As I Sit In Perfect Silence
As I sit in perfect silence,
Come down, Lord, and speak to me.
Help me understand your teaching,
Shed your light that I may see.
Help me grow in peace and love, Lord,
Teach me how work and serve.
Pray that I may serve all people,
Not just each as they deserve.
Take the fullness of my life, Lord,
Use according to your will.
May my mind be always thoughtful,
May my heart be always still.
As I feel your presence near me,
With your hand show me the way.
Stay, O Lord, forever in me,
Walk the path with me each day.
Time To Listen
Father, give me time to listen
to the things you're trying to say.
Give me time to stop and think,
throughout my busy day.
Give me times of quietness,
that I may hear your call.
Give me faith enough to respond,
by devoting to you my all.
Father, when you've given me
the things for which I ask,
I will be refreshed and ready
to do, for you, my tasks.
Finally, I'll not forget,
to give you thanks and praise,
For ceaselessly helping me find my way
through life's un-ending maze.
In My Life
In my life, Lord, let there be,
More of Thee and less of me.
Take my life and let it be,
Yours for all eternity.
Lord, I ask, in all I do,
You'll let me see something of you.
Unquestionable Proof
Lord, you know that I'm not perfect,
You know that I do wrong.
But still, Lord, you accept me,
And make me feel like I belong.
I try to do my best, Lord,
And I try hard not to stray.
But you know it isn't easy,
As I go about life today.
Lord, give to me your guidance,
In everything I do.
I pray that whatever it may be,
I bring glory unto you.
Lord, it isn't easy,
But I'm following you still.
Give me strength to continue;
Lead me to do your will.
Thank you, Lord, for guiding me,
And showing me your truth.
Give to those who doubt you,
Unquestionable proof.
Feast Of Life
No-one shall be excluded,
From sitting at God's table.
To each, much will be given,
But we should still share as we are able.
The table is now set,
And the meal is ready to carve.
Why do so many gorge themselves,
As fellow humans starve?
All are equal in the feast of life,
No-one should go without.
But because we see such injustices,
We are filled with guilt and doubt.
One continent is left starving,
Whilst another stuffs it's face.
How can we call this just and good?
It is a complete disgrace!
There is no even distribution,
Of power, food or wealth.
As a result everything suffers:
Self-belief, morale and health.
We know there is food enough for all,
And there's no admission fee.
Once you have been born to life,
God's mercy shall be free.
I pray that one day soon,
We will solve this situation.
It will take a lot of common-sense,
And a little co-operation.
The Only Redeemer
You've confessed your belief in Christ Jesus,
By your lips and by your life too.
Telling your friends and your family,
Christ died on the cross for you.
Repent and be filled with the spirit,
Cleansed of sin and freed from all guilt;
For Christ is the only redeemer,
Who can pull down the walls you have built.
Can you feel the spirit within you?
His presence is all around.
Offering the right hand of fellowship,
And expressing the new love you've found.
Baptised into union with Jesus,
And joining so many before.
You may think you're already miles down the road,
But you've only just opened the door.
Sometimes the sky will be cloudy,
But eventually, with time, it will clear,
And only then will you realise,
That Christ has always been near.
You have both heard the call and responded,
By devoting to Jesus your life.
May he bring you both peace everlasting;
And may he bless you as husband and wife.
A Great Friend
He was only one man, but he had such a passion for life.
His passion for life was matched only by his passion for the Band.
His presence was uplifting.
He was always cheery - a contagious cheerfulness.
Genuinely interested in people - in each person, individually;
Former and current acquaintances alike.
He had time for everyone, not rushed - but a real concern for all.
We never gave him thanks - sadly, we left it too late.
He was taken away so suddenly.
Now we give him thanks through our continued commitment.
- A great friend
- A pleasure to know
- A joy to meet
- A privilege to work with
- A terrible loss
- An honour to continue his work
Tender-hearted Enthusiastic Dedicated
Little Comfort
No-one can ever justify your grief,
Or the cruel way your loved ones were taken away.
What people do now will bring little relief,
And you'll find little comfort in the things they say.
Pray to the Lord, and we'll all pray with you,
Ask Him for rest, support and realease,
Ask Him to help with the pain that you go through,
We will all pray that He sends you His peace.
In Love There Is No Distance
Time and distance stand between us,
You seem so far away.
If only I could visit you,
Just one more time today.
I cannot feel your gentle touch,
Or whisper in your ear
The things I long to say to you;
The things you need to hear.
You see, I really miss you,
Whenever we're apart.
As soon as I have left you,
The awful feelings start.
I hope to see you later,
Any maybe take you home.
Because in love there is no distance,
That cannot be overcome.
A Life Of Service
Our thoughts and love are with you Ron,
As you struggle through your grief.
Our prayers and hearts go out to you,
To help strengthen your belief.
We thankyou for the time we shared,
With both of you each year.
The memories still linger,
And we hold those memories dear.
Helen’s life of love and service,
Was an example to us all.
Every act of faith and kindness,
No matter whether large or small.
We’re thinking of you always,
And pray God brings His peace.
And that the knowledge of Helen’s everlasting life,
May bid your sorrows cease.
