God is pouring out His Holy Spirit. At first as a gentle rain … but now the sound of rushing waters fills our ears. The river of God is starting to flow as it never has before.
Some are attempting to swim in the river of God in the shallow water near the banks. They are filled with fear because the water is too deep and the current too swift in the middle of the river.
They do not realize that they are in grave danger. In the shallows they are easily entangled by snags and dragged under. Toxic pollutants that can poison them concentrate in the stagnant pools near the banks. The muck formed by the mixing of the river and the banks is treacherous footing.
We are safe only in the middle of the river. All snags are washed away by the force of the current. All pollution is washed away. The water runs clear, pure, and deep.
The water is deep in the middle of the river … and the current is swift … but God won’t let us drown. As we cling to Him in trusting faith He will not only support us but bless us. He will exchange our strength for His strength. He will reveal Himself to us. He will bring each of us to maturity and place us in His family. We will know the peace that passes all understanding and joy without measure. We will be completely, utterly satisfied.
