The Cyprus College of Art was founded in 1969 by the Cypriot artist Stass Paraskos and offers a caring and creative community in which to learn about art and design.
We are a small institution, located on the southern European island of Cyprus. We offer a highly specialist training for people with the ambition to become professional artists and designers, and we attract students from all over the world, especially from Cyprus, the UK, the European Union and North America. All tuition at the College is in English.
The College is very much a practical place, and offers:
- One Year Foundation Art and Design course (for university entrance)
- Three year undergraduate course in Fine Art (for people who want to be artists)
- One year postgraduate/MA course in Fine Art
- Adult education classes (open to all)
- The Cyprus Summer Studio (for artists and art students from other universities and colleges)
All courses are accredited in England by OCNW.
The College is a run by professional artists and art historians who provide a very high quality art education in which students are taught the practical skills they need to produce art. Life drawing is a very important part of the curriculum, as are other technical skills that underpin art and design. We believe very strongly that art students need to learn both technical and critical skills, and that it is not possible to be a great artist unless you have both of these.
In particular, it is worth noting the ratio of tutors to students at the Cyprus College of Art, which is excellent at 1:7. This means, if you join one of our programmes:
- You will see more of your tutors than in many other universities or colleges
- Your tutors will have more time to teach you as an individual
- Your tutors will have a better chance to help you identify and achieve your ambitions as an artist or designer.
