House Concurrent Resolution No. 1103

A Resolution praising and commending Leo J. Donahue;
establishing the last Saturday in April as "Leo J. Donahue Day" in Oklahoma;
and directing distribution.

WHEREAS, Oklahoma is populated by outstanding people who give much of themselves to a shared effort of making our nation the best it can be; and

WHEREAS, among the most important individuals in our state's effort to be the best it can be are our educators; and

WHEREAS, Leo J. Donahue, the former Superintendent of Schools of the Fort Gibson Public Schools, is one such individual; and

WHEREAS, Leo J. Donahue is a man who has, literally, given his entire life to education; and

WHEREAS, it was the vision and foresight of Leo J. Donahue that has led to the growth of the city of Fort Gibson; and

WHEREAS, his decision to pursue annexation of an Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company power plant into the Fort Gibson school district has made possible the remarkable growth and quality that have become the hallmarks of Fort Gibson Public Schools; and

WHEREAS, even after his retirement as Superintendent, Leo J. Donahue continued to give to education, working for another decade with the State Department of Education; and

WHEREAS, after retiring from the State Department of Education, Leo J. Donahue continued to give to the schools about which he cares so very much by serving in various capacities; and

WHEREAS, the students, faculty and staff of the Fort Gibson Public Schools owe a dept to Leo J. Donahue that can never be fully repaid; and

WHEREAS, the Oklahoma State Legislature wishes to join with the friends and neighbors of Leo J. Donahue in honoring him for a lifetime of achievement and excellence in education.

Now, Therefore, be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the 2nd Session of the 44th Oklahoma Legislature, the Senate concurring therein:

THAT the Oklahoma House of Representatives hereby commends and congratulates Leo J. Donahue for his lifelong commitment to education.

THAT the last Saturday in April every year is hereby designates as "Leo J. Donahue Day" in Oklahoma.

THAT a duly authenticated copy hereof shall be transmitted to Leo J. Donahue.
