House Bill No. 2255
An Act relating to veterans;
designating the third Thursday of each March as "Vietnam Veterans Day";
authorizing and requesting the Governor to perform certain actions;
providing for codification; and declaring an emergency.
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Oklahoma:
SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 90.11 of Title 25, unless there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
The third Thursday of March of each year is hereby designated as "Vietnam Veterans Day", and the Governor is authorized and requested to:
- Issue annually a proclamation calling on the citizens of this state to observe the day with appropriate ceremonies and activities; and
- Urge all state agencies, interested organizations, groups, and individuals to fly the flag of the United States at half-staff the third Thursday of each March in honor of the veterans who served in Vietnam, Cambodia, or Laos during the Vietnam Conflict.
SECTION 2. It being immediately necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, an emergency is hereby declared to exist, by reason whereof this act shall take effect and be in full force from and after its passage and approval.
