Mount Rainier |
A beautiful living volcano in Washington
Date: Tue.July 28, 1998
After a flight from Alaska, we suddenly left Seattle and straighted ahead to the beautiful Mt.Rainier. It's still being one of the active volcanoes. Mount Rainier National Park is located in west central Washington about 48 miles southeast of Tacoma, WA. The park is approximately a 1-2 hour drive from Seattle. I drove to "Paradise" which is the nearest place by car to see Mt.Rainier. Mount Rainier National Park contains vast expanses of pristine old-growth forests, subalpine flower meadows and spectacular alpine scenery. On the day I went, it had a very terrible hot weather and strong hazy sunshine on the mountain. It's also hard to drive uphill due to the very snake route and slow traffic from tour buses. In the afternoon, the time I reached the mountain, the temperature in the car was 101 degree Farenheit. I was so tired from the long trip and exhausted from the hot weather. I went back to Seattle in the evening to visit the University of Washington before the flight back to Pittsburgh in the night.
