Pearl Harbor Bibliography

Portrait of Admiral Husband Edward Kimmel This bibliography strives to pull together information on all available print and audiovisual materials related to the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. In pursuit of completeness, I have listed every item to which I have a reference, although I have only annotated those items which I have actually read. Therefore it is possible that this list includes some "ghost" citations.

This site is lovingly dedicated to Admiral Husband Edward Kimmel, Commander in Chief of the Pacific Fleet on December 7, 1941, who was unjustly relieved of command and forced into ignomous retirement as a scapegoat for the bungling of the Administration. It is my sincerest hope that through my efforts he may one day be able to reclaim the destiny that was stolen from him.

Due to the growing size of the Pearl Harbor bibliography, I have decided to divide it into multiple files for ease of use. If you are linking to the Pearl Harbor bibliography, please link to this page, not to any of the subordinate pages, as those are subject to change without notice.

I have also created a subset of the bibliography called the Pearl Harbor Core Materials. This will contain a small number of books that are particularly useful for the beginning researcher and which are in print and therefore easily obtainable.

Core Materials

Books A-M

Books N-Z

Magazines

I recognize that this is an incomplete listing by necessity, since new materials continue to come out even after fifty years have passed. However I will continue to work on getting more of these materials annotated and adding new ones as I become aware of them. If you know of other books, articles or audiovisual materials that you believe should be added to this listing, please e-mail me at leighkimmel@geocities.com.
