It's always a wonder what can be accomplished by a full time working Mom. Our mother was surely not an exception. Out would come the and either my sister or I would have a new skirt in a jiffy.
As the treddle of the machine could be heard at a steady pace, the smells from the oven came wafting across our anxious noses. Two of our favorites were and.
I'd imagine that keeping us in food and clothes was a chore somedays. In spite of all that she loved to and was marvelous at it. Each granddaughter has one as well as us three kids of course. She played a large roll in the forming of the village centennial quilt of which she was very proud. Snips of thread and a needle or two could always be found tucked in an unsuspecting place.
Another passion was for that of . Her paints and canvases could regularly be seen as she was working on a project. There are many taking a prominent spot in the homes of kids and grandkids. They range from the snowy egret, lofty lion, luscious blackcaps and to favorite buildings such as her church and relatives homes.
The pastures and country roads were her tromping grounds. Many a tasty morsel included the berries or nuts that she would diligently seek out. I still enjoy the task and my son Eric has followed in her stead. His little guy, Daniel, goes along for the ride, but to date is not old enough to watch out for the thorns hidden amongst the berries.
Mom dearly loved watching birds. If I had to pick a favorite of hers, I'd say it was the Snowy Egret. She didn't play favorites though while watching at the window with her binoculars. Possibly I can fit one of her treasures here. Watch.. here goes :)
Here is where many of these lovely graphics can be found. Take a peek, but plan on staying for awhile.
