Successful Spells are best written by the person performing them. There are many web sites that have spells available, some sites even sell them. GreyWing has removed the few spells she had on this site. She does not plan to have spells available to the public. They are not the main focus of the Manor-House for Wiccan Studies web site. Please, do not send email requesting spells be added to the Book of Shadows. Magickal correspondences and information on writing spells will be made available but putting the spell together will be left to the reader.
Chapter 37................................................On Writing Spells
Chapter 38................................................Days and Corresponding Spellwork
There are four definitions of the word "spell". The gothic word "spill", means a saying, story, or piece of news. The word for the narrative of God, gospel is derived from this.
The second definition comes from the Anglo-Saxon word "spellian" meaning to recount, to write out something.
The third meaning is related to the old English word "speld". A speld is a thin rod of wood used to point, such as a teacher would use. These rods were also called wands.
The last definition describes a period of activity or work.
A spell is giving time to recount something that spells out your desire. It is driven by the will of a person. A desired goal is attainable. Words, symbols, and tools are combined to form a ritual. Power is raised and directed out to the Universe to do its work. The wand focuses the energy that has been bound together. This is where the term "spellbinding" comes from.
Find a nice fountain pen or quill pen to write your spells. Invest in
some colored inks. You may also wish to draw a picture of your wishes and
desires, or use photographs. Use your imagination. The image you eventually
come up with may be ceremonially burned or buried as an offering, or kept
in a sacred place.
