Three Songs for Anna Rana

	I.

O will fair Anna Rana
Give her heart to me?
Will she read my lover's letter
Where only she can see?
There she will find good water,
And lushly knit ivy,
Where I hid my lover's letter,
So only she can see.
Will she then let out a laughter
And give her heart to me?
It could happen, as the winds of North may soften.

	II.

I hid my heart in a faraway land
Under six feet of desert sand,
For Anna Rana's icy countenance
Sought to capture it with a glance.
A fleeting glance as cold as mountain snow
That left behind a certain glow,
A careless glance from her grey-tinted eyes,
Captured my heart from where it lies,
Though my heart hid in a faraway land
Under six feet of desert sand.

	III.

Foolish man, love comes unheard to the ear
And departs unseen to the eye.
Sun and the moon remain year after year
But woman's love will soonest fly.

Would Anna Rana give her heart to me,
Truest love, that which time can deepen,
Would she give me, we'd love eternally,
And all will be as in heaven.

It could happen, as the winds of North may soften.

Do not despair--One of the thieves was saved...
