So... what does a person get in a $300 car... when that $300 car is a 1965 Pontiac Bonneville? Restoration plans for this car are in the works... but as of 7/9/98, all that I've done is drive the car. I found this car in Kingsport, TN. It was listed in the local classified ads for $500. The car had been sitting since 1982! Went to look at the car... and told the man I'd give him $300 for it if I could get it to crank. He said that he hadn't had the car cranked since about '90. Hot battery... and some gas liberally applied via the coke bottle method to the carburretor... and she was soon running... for a short time anyways. Had the car towed home and did a few things like changing the oil, transmission fluid, spark plugs, etc. and then installed the fuel pump that came with the car... and soon had her running very very well. It says quite a bit for the Pontiac brand name that this car sat for so long... and still runs so well. After a carburretor rebuild, I began driving the car the 20 mile trip to work and back on the interstate... everyday... only problems so far are running out of gas (gas guage doesn't work) which I soon solved by always carrying 5 gallons of gas in the trunk... and overheating due to a hole in the radiator... will be fixed soon.
