My Sister

This poem actually had an interesting beginning. It was, in fact, a small poem that I wrote on the back of a birthday card for a great friend of mine, a person I would stake my life on. But it turned out so nice, I copied it down, and put it with the rest of my chickenscratch.

My Sister

A friend in time of need,
A breeze in the hot summer sun.
You helped me when I was down,
You finished a work that was never done.

You gave me trust I didn't deserve,
You trusted me when I wouldn't trust you.
You saw through my pain and loved me still,
Inside I knew I had found something true.

I know I'm not perfect,
Yet you still try to understand me.
For the first time in my life,
I see how perfect true friendship can be.

Thank you.
You'll always be my sister.
