C.S. Lewis referred to Earth as the Shadowlands, a place in between heaven and hell.
This was also the title of a recent movie about his life and his brief marriage to
Helen Joy Davidman, and her battle with cancer. C.S. Lewis wrote
about the emptiness that comes after a loved one dies in what was perhaps his
best book ever, A Grief Observed.
