Frequently Asked Questions
The following FAQ's apply to all the mailing lists offered on the Politeia.com site. Much of this information is included in the welcome message you receive when you first subscribe. So be sure to save that initial message to your own archive.
How do I subscribe? To subscribe to one of the mailing-list forums, simply enter your email address in the banner-style form on each page and included below. This will open a browser window at the site sponsoring the mailing-lists: Yahoo-Groups. You do not have to do anything or supply any further information to Yahoo. The email address you supply when you initially subscribe can be the limit of your exposure to Yahoo. There will be further information about privacy below.
How do I unsubscribe? Simply send a blank email to polphil-unsubscribe@yahoogroups.com.
How do I post my comments to the list? Simply email your comments to polphil@yahoogroups.com.
Are the mailing lists moderated? The list is not directly moderated, but I will review the membership list so as to discourage annoying postings that are irrelevant to the discussion. I would hope to discourage the following: 1) spam, including all get-rich-quick schemes as well as all other unsolicited "business" offers; 2) "academic" spam, including all offers of or requests for saleable papers; 3) all obscene or pornographic solicitations. I recognize that profane language, and even the "obscene" itself, can be an essential component of intellectual discussion. I hope that I can effectively distinguish between important and meaningful discourse that can only occupy the extreme margins of human society and language that is merely offensive. Please bear with me in this effort.
