Welcome to my Poetry Page

On this page I will be posting some of my poems. Some are old; some are new. They are expressions of hope, fear, love, doubt and faith. They are about the holiness of God, the wonders of His creation and the frailties of mankind. Read on and be sure to leave me a note in my guest book if any of them inspire, challenge or offend you.

Songs of Faith

Tapestry

When birds don't sing
And flowers wilt
And only sets the moon
When ice is hot
And fire's cold
And darkest night's at noon
I hope because
I hear the sound
Comes from the Weaver's loom
And if I think
The pattern's wrong
And all is out of tune
The error of
My thoughts below
A glimps above will show
The birds all sing
The flowers bloom
The moon will shed her glow
The ice is cold
The fire's hot
And all is light below
Judge not the Weaver
Little man
And watch His work unfold!

Life's Road

Life turns quickly and why we may not know.
The Father leads and where he leads we go.
For each the journey ends.
For some with tears
For some with songs.
Whether the road goes straight
Or if it wends or if it sheers
Or few or throngs go with us
We know our ends await.
And what--
For one a mound of ashes
A life of wasted gain.
For one a crown of honor
A life of faith and pain.
And last of all
To stand before the throne
And hear our Lord entone
Thou good and faithful son--
Well done.

Worship Him

Come forth you kings of nations.
Come forth you kings of all.
Lay down your crowns and worship Him
Who now reigns over all.

Holy Lord of all is He.
Holy is the King.
Holy is His name.
To Him alone I sing.

The clouds above will crown Him.
Praise rises from the seas.
The mountains bow before Him.
And I on bended knee
Will worship Him Who made me,
Who called me by my name,
And know that He Who saved me
Forever stays the same.

Untitled

What seems now only pain
I know it all is gain
Like the moon behind the clouds
On a dark and starless night
I know your love abounds
Even in my toughest fight
When the Enemy surrounds
And I feel so very slight
I know that I am rescued
By your might
For your gracious is love flowing over me.

Iron Warrior

Iron warrior standing there
Armour shining bright
Standing poised to fight
Standing tall with shoulders square
Hold aloft the shield!
Force the foe to yield!

Wounded warrior wearing white
Stained with blood and tears
You've fought the war for years
Standing in His might.
You have seen the prize.
It is in your eyes.

Triumphant warrior shing bright
Before Him now you kneel
Him who stamped you with His seal
A brilliant mirror of His light
The course is run!
The battle's won!

Songs of Doubt

Dream Bubble

Dream bubble
Filled with trouble
Trick me with your iridescent gleem.
Make me laugh.
Make me cry.
Till you pop and smother me with gas.
Star-less void
Endless night
Useless, impossible, worthless fight.

Feathered Hope

Hope is a many feathered thing
That flies away with the last day of spring.
When you need hope most
She makes herself a ghost
And flies away on wing so swift and free.
One might catch her if she lit beneath the tree
But when she lights (she seldom does)
It's only in the highest leaves
And soon as you think she is; she was
And glides away as soon as one breathes.

Songs of Rejoicing

Rejoice!

Lift up your voice!
It's time to rejoice!
Be looking ahead!
The past is dead!

Time, it moves on!
Yesterday's gone!
Each day is new!
With a different view!

Stop in each day,
On you life's way,
Making the choice,
In Him I'll rejoice!

A Change Without a Change

I've dipped the day in gold
And danced with the moon
Though all that I wanted
Is none the more granted
And nothing is changed
But everything's new.
It's all due to You.
I'll dance and I'll sing
And love everything
Heaven will ring
With the tune that I'll sing
In the deep of my heart
With splendiferous art.

Put Off Your Coats

Put off your coats,
Those needful things that bind.
Don a pair of linen pants.
Come before the Lord and dance.
Feet be free and dance with glee
Each moment is eternity.
Dance and sing and chance.
Worship God and love the Lord,
Till they say you've lost your gourd!
Leave behind those "needful" things.
Put off your coats!

Songs of Pain

Sing Not Oh Stars

Sing not joyfully, oh, stars,
For I will not sing with you.
Sing not joyfully, oh, stars,
For I was more than one; am less than two.

Sing not sadly, oh, stars,
For I cannot stand the sound.
Sing not sadly, oh, stars,
Give not my heart another wound.

Sing not care-freely, oh, stars,
For if you do I die.
Sing not care-freely, oh, stars,
Let silence fill the sky.

Sing not, oh, stars. Sing not.

Comfort

Zophar and Bildad are my comforters
They blare at me, their mouths as trumpeters.
I thought he was my friend.
He was Joab in the end.
He stabbed me in the side,
And at the gate I died.
I counted you as true,
Instead you pierced me through.

Songs of Beauty

A Spider's Web

The silver silk in spiral stretched
With chrystal beads in glory etched
The rays around reflected red
A sacred crown on nature's head
A secret danger lurks within
The spider's art beheld by men.

The Pond

The pond lies back at sunrise,
Gold at sunset glaring in our eyes.
Shining silver in the moonlight.
Lying still throughout the night.
The pond, its color always changing,
Like our lives forever rearanging.

Clouds

Clouds, whispers, slowly
Shifting,feathering, sailing
.....Seas that never were.

Songs of Friendship

Heart of a Friend

Smile for me and light the way.
Lend your ear and point the way.
Be my friend and give a shove.
Push me on and show me love.
Recieve a trouble; hear a woe.
And help my hands to let it go.
When I'm with you I know I'm free
To be myself what e'er that be.
I know I'm safe until the end
In the heart of a friend.

Cultureshocked

A butterfly in a box
Like a queen in stocks
Bound by a world
She does not understand.
She struggles with pains
And makes great, great gains,
But how small they seem
As she swims up stream
And round her is swirled
A web of demand
In a world
She does not understand.
From back where she came
It wasn't the same
Secure in a world
She knew how to command
Not made alone
By words unknown
Happy and free
With security
Singing a tune
To the light of the moon
In a world
She knew how to command.
Princess, be brave
While deep in the cave
And find yourself
With new found wealth
In another world
You now understand.

Mamihlapinatapei

I look at you and you at me.
Is that the end and must it be?
I want to tell you how I feel.
Could we both hurt together heal?
What is that look within your eye?
It seems to spark and quickly die.
I've seen your eyes and you've seen mine.
Is that the end, the finish line?
You know the words I want to say.
We both begin to go our way.
Perhaps if just a word I spake,
Or could you do it for my sake?
You turn away. It seems so slow.
Can't you see I hate to go?
Another chorus to the ode.
Another feather on the load.

Going

The time was measured
and is spent.
You now return from
where you went.
My heart like lead it
cries within
Because of all the
time that's been.
I keep you in my heart
my friend.
I'll keep you there
until the End.
I don't know what the
time will bring.
But on it files;
so swift its wing.
I pray it brings me
back to you.
And one day dawns on
friendship new
That's friendship old that
Time renewed.
