The Golgota is a display of figurines showing the Crucifixion scene. The first one was held as part of the Table of the Apostles held at Bormla and has about 270 small figurines. This was about 1954. This type of display is not as popular as the display of the vari (which are statues copied from the ones used in the Good Friday processions) but one can find the Golgota in Rabat, Qormi, Zebbug, Isla and Hamrun.
This year the St. Philip Band Club of Zebbug (Malta) has a display of the Golgota using life size figures. The scent of incense together with sound and light effects make it seem so real.
