DUNE
Inspired from a photo taken by Joseph Demanuele (similar to background photo)
I never prayed to the
Madonna
I never admired the grass
For fear of the wilderness
And of the veil on which I contemplate.
Today I am unharmed by the surrounding water
By the ocean which has engulfed my youth
And showed me the fear of death
From which I was saved.
Today I know who had saved me
Someone who's heart was touched
By the child on whose cross grew to die
And knew what losing meant.
Oh Madonna for whom my devotion lacked
Please forgive my blindness
Show me an eternal love
For the child yet to become.
Don't let me forget that island
On which I was carried by your arms
To open my eyes and see a desert
Of the blindness yet to become.
Let me take your place immortal
To look over the tarnished mind
Of a child whose eyes have sunk
In the blood of a corrupt sea.
Let me take your place oh Madonna
To veil on their souls
The souls of the islands
The islands of Dune.
