Self Awareness

The philosopher strives to apprehend essence. In essence he recognizes
God. While the scientist works to understand the mechanism of the
apparatus, the philosopher struggles to comprehend not only the mechanism
but its spirit as well. In this respect philosophy goes beyond science.
The mechanism involves physics; the spirit involves religion and
philosophy. The spirit can create awareness.

Consciousness is the operation of the apparatus which generates and
maintains self awareness. Consciousness is a process conducted by the
mechanism and awareness is the synthesized integral; the "one". The One
is the awareness of the apparatus. The essence of awarenes is the divine spirit.
The whole is greater than the sum of its parts because of the product the interaction
of the parts produce i.e. awareness.

As detailed an analysis as science now has, it cannot find awareness.
Awareness is not a particle. It is not a group of particles. It is
induced by their interaction. Without a fairly complex closed system
with feedback, awareness is not detected by external inspection.

But awareness cannot be produced from non-awareness. The essence of
awareness must be present before it can develop into more complex and
recognizable forms. Only when the spirit moves can there be life. The
movement of spirit induces awareness. The apparatus produces the
movement and the environment necessary for the process of consciousness
and ultimately of self awareness to exist.

But that which moves is material in nature. This IS a particle. What
science calls a particle then must be, for the philosopher, a
"cognitive bit". The particle is the manifestation of the cognitive
"now". It is a kind of "instantaneous cognition" without any past or
future. It is a spiritual "pulse", if you will. It contains no memory
or logic. It is a pulse of awareness of the shortest duration.

Complex closed systems (having feedback) with memory and logic are
capable of "stretching" the cognitive pulses and integrating them into a
continuous state of cognition.

It could be said that awareness is generated when reality no longer
flickers. The high speed logical iterations of the apparatus, aided by
retrieving and updating data in memory, produces a cognitive "flash"
rate high enough to develop and maintain a certain quality of
consciousness which, in turn, is integrated into self awareness.
