After watching the many classic movies, I have came to conclusions that Pygmalion, directed in 1938 by Anthony Asquith and Leslie Howard and based on George Bernard Shaw's 1913 play, was my favorite movie. I found it quite comical and interesting to watch. I enjoyed watching the transformation of Eliza Doolittle (Wendy Hiller) from a poor poverty-driven girl into an elegant lady. Not only did Eliza go through a transformation, but Higgins (Leslie Howard) also changed. He was such a cruel man, but he eventually realized the power of friendship and love.

I have also found that A Doll's House, directed in 1973 by Joseph Losey and starring Jane Fonda, based on Henrik Ibsen's 1879 play, was my least favorite movie out of all that we have watched. The movie could not grasp my attention and keep me on the edge of my seat, wanting to know what was going to happen next. I did like the way in which it showed a strong woman, but I just could not get interested. I feel that I may not have liked this movie as much because I did not care much for the actors. I thought they seemed too staged and not as natural as did the others in Pygmalion

With both of these movies the ladies changed into stronger individuals, although the stories were told in different ways, I found Pygmalion's version to be more entertaining and A Doll's House version to be quite boring. I just found that the actors in Pygmalion to be more in tune with what the director wanted and the actors in A Doll's House to be very dry. I just think that Pygmalion is a better way of showing what a good strong woman is supposed to be.
