Before Chaos
(A Rendition of Mythology)
We travel back beyond the years that we know as today, and beyond the
believable. Before Chaos was born, to the beginning before the beginning. When a child
is born, it knows nothing but emotions. This comes from nowhere, but yet everywhere, it
is born from nothing, yet it exists. Everything else about a child is learned and taken from
the outside, but emotions... they come from nowhere...or is it everywhere? No one will
know, but emotions is where we will start our story.
As I said earlier, before there was chaos, there were emotions. They were four beings,
two male and two female. The weakest of these was sadness. She would weep till there
were no tears to weep, and than weep tearless. She was always mourning, even in her
sleep, and even when her tears ran dry... Then there was fear. He was strong compared
to sadness, he was small at some times, and large at others. There was anger. He raged
and simmered, and sometimes only a small flicker of flame would glimmer in his eyes. He
was jealousy, and false pride, yes anger was strong, but the strongest of all these beings
was Love. She was loving and caring, always taking pity on the others, knowing that they
only hurt themselves. She was the love of seduction, and also the love you give a kitten.
Love would almost feel sorrow when she laid her eyes upon the others, especially sadness.
She wanted all others to feel what she was, and feel what she felt, and so she would do
everything that was possible to make them feel love.
One day, Sadness was weeping into the sea, because there was no life within it's cool
waters, no ripples to exist, no waves to crash upon a shore, no life seemed to exist but her
and the others. Love saw this. She blew upon the sea, and a light breeze rushed past
Sadness. Sadness was thrilled, but was still saddened that there was no life still. Than she
saw a small wripple in the water, though no one had touched it to make it ripple. And she
smiled, but still she was sad. All made her sad. Now there was no lifelessness in the
water. Now there were no calm waters in which to see a clear reflection of ones self.
Love in seeing this bound over to sadness, and kissed her on the lips. Love was always
most intimate with sadness.
"Please don't cry dear heart. The stillness will come, and then the breeze will blow again.
Do not be sad. All will be well, no worries?" Love said.
Sadness just bowed her head, and weeped. Love hugged her and gave her a kiss on a tear
that was riding down her cheek. Than they heard a very loud sound. Anger was very
upset this time. Much more than usual. He did not like Love creating new things, or
dividing her attentions away from him. She marched up to him and point blank told him
that love was for everyone, and that he should stop being selfish. Than she saw a
movement behind Anger. She looked, and there was fear, huddled up in a little ball. She
pushed Anger aside, and bound toward fear. He cringed away from her, thinking that she
was Anger, until she touched him, than he relaxed. She kissed him on the forehead.
Life went on this way for many moons. At one point in time, there was a great joining.
Were all four of them had each other at the same time. Than Love was at her climax, and
the other three were joined with her. This impregnated Love. Love got so big, that she
thought she would burst. She experienced love, fear, anger, and sadness during this time.
And when she came back to love, breathing a sigh of relief, a pair of twins was born, a girl
and a boy. Their names were Chaos and Order.
Order was always the slowest one. When Chaos was full grown, Order was still only a
toddler. Chaos was a loving daughter, though she detested Anger, but could always beat
him at his own game. Chaos had no rules, no laws, and she did as she pleased. Order on
the other hand adored Anger, and Anger always praised at how strong the boy was in
mind and in body.
Chaos and Order always played together. Their games were full of creating things and
becoming things. There was nothing that they could not become, from an animal that their
mother had just created, to the peculiar little blue and white sphere that their mother called
a world. After a while, they got bored up in the place they lived and decided to take a
visit to the world.
When they got there, they found out that it wasn't just blue and white, that there was
green too. But blue, green, and white weren't all that interesting. So they decided to
bring some of the animals from their home, and have them live on the world. After there
were many different animals, they looked around and saw that the animals were acting
funny. Some of them had fallen over, and some of them flip flopped around. Some of
them fell each time they tried to take a step, Chaos and Order decided to change things a
little. Order brought the waters and the trees from their home, making different shades of
green and blue, these would be a perfect place for the squirrels and fish. Order brought
flowers and wings. She gave the wings to the animals that her mother called Birds, and
she thought that they NOW looked right. She brought the flowers for her own special
pleasure.
This adding and moving of things went on for a very long time. Order always thought it
was fun to play in the white things that his mother called clouds. He would spend hours
just sitting there, and rolling in them. One day, while Chaos was teaching the wind how to
make itself do different things, Order noticed how tired she was. He told her to take a
break, that he wanted to show her something. She came along, and was very surprised
when he showed her the wonderful clouds. For a long time they joined on those clouds.
While they were "joining", the winds decided to do what Chaos was trying to get them to
do, and *WOOSH!* up went the clouds. Chaos and Order didn't realize this for some
time, and by the time they did, the clouds were so high that they couldn't get them down,
but they didn't really mind them up there since it was a symbol of their joining.
After some time, Chaos realized that she was with child. This was a happy time for
Chaos, she realized how useful Orders ways were, and adopted some of them for her own.
At the time of her child's birth, her mother was also having a child fathered by Order.
They came at the same time, Chaos named her child Gaia, and her mother named her child
Eros. Later throughout time, other children were born. Chaos and her mother claimed all
these to be Gods and Goddesses, and when Chaos looks down on her children when they
play, she remembers how her and her brother would change their shapes just as her
children and grand children and grander children do.
(Note from the Author)
If you'll notice, there is much symbolism in this. If you didn't notice it the first time, read through it a secone time, and you may notice it. If you are familiar with mythology, you will understand this quite a bit more than some.
