STUDENT CAREER RESEARCH

THE TASK: Students brainstormed a variety of careers, chose one which interested them, then wrote guiding questions to be answered in their research. After completing their research, they could choose to present their information as a pamphlet, a slide show, or a web page.

PARENT LETTER: This is a letter sent home to parents at the beginning of our project.

TOPIC ATTACK: Before settling on a career for research, students completed a "topic attack," whose purpose was to explore resources available about their chosen career. Most students found plenty of material , but some decided to change their career topic because information was difficult to find.

PRESENTATION: In addition to the project, students presented their information to the class in an informative, creative fashion.

CAREER SURVEY: Students completed a career survey, which allowed them to reflect on their personal strengths, interests, and values as they considered various careers. They also interviewed an adult about their career.
