Backdraft
1991
Ron Howard took a major step downward with this one. Backdraft
tries to be to firemen as Twister is to Tornado chaser. Problem:
the plot is boring, and goes on way to long. The dialogue is
absolutely horrible and excessively vulgar. The characters aren't
believable. Kurt Russel is absolutely atrocious. Even the
ending, which starts to show some promise, drags on way to long.
The fire special effects, however, are kind of cool. Even in that
ralm, Independence Day had better fires. However, there was some
cool human interaction in the fires, thus earning it about a 3 out
of 10. The soundtrack is also ok. The chemical way to make a
backdraft is kind of cool.
