The village of Cugy nestles in Autumns' warm light as the
Jura mountains rise behind Neuchâtel Lake in the distance.
Here you will find photos of just some of the highlights of this
marvellous Broyard village.
L'Hotel de L'Ange. Notorious local hotspot. Rescued from bankruptcy on
at least three occasions by
Mr.Paul Ashley single-handedly consuming the entire stock of strong
alcohols. There is an area for pétanque, or french boules, behind the Hôtel -
very nice in the Summer. It is possible to stay overnight in the Ange;
the room rates are very reasonable and the rooms are clean and comfortable.
No visit to Cugy would be complete without dropping in to the Hôtel de
l'Ange.
The Castle - ancient killing ground now turned school-house.
Early 16th Century, the Castle still dominates the open ground in
the heart of the village. There is a new public playground just
next to the castle; a slide, a roundabout, some swings, a climbing frame -
for younger children.
The local Council meeting in full swing. Mr.Chuard can be seen fourth
from the right, in the yellow trousers. Cugy being an agricultural
village, this scene could be from any number of local farms.
La Campagnarde, headquarters of Cugy Interfax News Service.
The house was built in 1848 and has been renovated regularly:
most recently in 1987. The interior is mostly of wood and stone.
A sunny garden surrounds the house on three sides. You can now have a look
inside the house, as our guest.
The Café de la Gare. This Café has often been overshadowed by it's
more illustrious neighbour the Hôtel de l'Ange. Under new management
it is resurfacing once again, and is well worth a visit. The decor is
traditional - although there is a juke-box discreetly tucked away near
the front door. The Café is near the railway station.Go Back to Cugy!
