The sand garden.
|
Part of the patio, with the small pond I built, which Louis
used to cool off in during hot summer days. Charging up and diving into
it, till the day he punctured the liner and it drained out. |
Back of the house from about half way into the yard. The
big red building to the right is a Catholic church built in 1888. |
And again.
|
Yet another view. You can still see the outline of the old
porch. And if you look closely between the two white chairs you can see
the old coal shute to the basement. |
No, you are not seeing things. The patio does have a slight
slope to it. |
Louis about to walk into the sand garden and get himself
into trouble. The big peach colored building on the alley is the old stable
for a mansion torn down years ago. |
My neighborhood in Denver is called The Elmwood Addition.
It is a small area 2 blocks wide and about 6 blocks deep. Sitting between
Lincoln Park and The Baker District. Depending on who wants something from
us, the other two neighborhoods claim we belong to them or not, as suits
their purpose. Two doors from my house is a huge brownstone built in the
1880s by the Schwader family, better known as the founders of Samsonite
Luggage. |
