Orthodox Churches of Saint Nicholas

Cyprus

Agios Nikolaos tis Stegis, "St. Nicholas of the Roof", so named because of the distinctive roof line. There was a picture, but only text remains. Anyway, it was a high, swooping roof.

Finland

• St. Nicholas Orthodox Church is the oldest building in Kotka, Finland. See also the Finnish Saint Nicholas Page.

Greece

• Picture of St. Nicholas Monastery on Meteora (scroll down). From the Hippo Place. "Meteora" comes from the same Greek roots as meteorology -- meta (with) eora (air). You'll see why.
• Picture of the Monastery of Gregoriou on Mount Athos, dedicated to St. Nicholas (sic). From the Treasures of Mount Athos site of the Hellenic Resources Institute.

Netherlands

• Saint Nicholas of Myra Russian Orthodox Church, Amsterdam.

Ireland

• Orthodox Community of Saint Nicholas, Cork, Ireland. One of the Orthodox churches of Ireland at the Orthodox Ireland site.

Italy

• Orthodox Chapel at the Basilica of St. Nicholas Bari, Italy. Saint Nicholas of Myra and Saint Nicholas of Bari are the same person. Myra (now in Turkey) was his episcopate; Bari, Italy is where some of the relics (bones) of the saint now repose. See the Roman Catholic Saint Nicholas page for more information.

Poland
