ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

Information Systems/Telecommunications

 

  • Implemented the Blackboard Learning and Community Portal System™(Release 6)as an informational resource for large group instruction of Computer Science 101 at Millersville University. Collaborated with instructional designer Albert Unrath for the first application of the new assignment features using MicrosoftÔ Access.
  • Compiled a software manual to be used for Computer Science 101 labs at Millersville University. Designed simple problems and presentations to enable students to master software skills efficiently. 
  • Utilized web resources such as Quia.com to design online activities which reinforce computer skills, improve retention, and make learning fun.
  • Improved home use of computers by installing a Home Private Network (HPN) using an ethernet wireless USB Print Server and an ethernet router.   
  • Designed and maintained an Excel spreadsheet for payroll and receipts/expenditures at Loyer's Pharmacy, enabling improved reporting and analysis of data.
  • Maintained and managed networks used by students and staff in the Baltimore County school computer labs, including troubleshooting and debugging.
  • Developed a policy and procedure manual for Carekeeper software to improve the use of the application at Jewish Family Services. Analyzed the billing portion of the software and developed recommendations for the implementation of an interface to improve data transfer. Many of the recommendations have been adopted by the agency and have improved organizational efficiency. Designed and maintained a web page describing the success of the project.
  • Researched statistical process control methods and software to improve the quality of services provided by the Bureau of Driver Licensing, PENNDOT. Collaborated with senior management in the conceptual design of this project resulting in quality process improvement.
  • Analyzed current population survey data and implemented a database application at the Bureau of Research and Statistics, Labor & Industry to provide a base for continued use of the data.
  • Automated contract deferrals in Lotus, providing an improved method for accurate monthly recognition of revenues at Central Business Systems.
  • Worked cooperatively with a team of students at Hershey Chocolate World to evaluate the information systems used in production processes. Assisted senior management in assessing opportunities for change, resulting in recommendations for the implementation of a local area network.
