Faubion Construction Update

Drilling to Bed Rock
March 25, 1998

The preparations are being made to lay the foundation for the new gymnasium at Faubion Middle School. As in all such large structures, the foundation will be set in bedrock. During this stage of construction, a cylindrical hole is drilled from the surface to bedrock. A triangular prism of  reinforced steel rods formed into equilateral triangles for maximum strength will be lowered into each bed rock hole. Once in place concrete is poured into the steel reinforced hole to complete the process.

The following photographs demonstrate the process in action. The truck with the orange equipment is drilling the holes, while the truck with the black equipment will be used to lower the steel triangular rods into the holes for reinforcement.
