Lesson 1 Signup for Email | There are several places on the Internet
where you can signup for free email. Hotmail was created to
attract computer professionals who had Internet access on
their job site but weren't allowed to use the company
email for personal mail. Hotmail
was the first free Internet email. Other free Internet
email includes n2mail
and Rocketmail.
I am sure that there are others, but these are the only
ones about which I know . There is another form of free email that you should know. It is email for people who have a computer with a modem at home but who do not have Internet access. This free email is called Juno. To use Juno, all you need to do is attach the computer's moden to the phoneline, write the email and send it. Juno is an excellent choice for people who are in this position. Today we are going to sign up for email. I am asking you to sign up for an email account at Hotmail. When you sign up, this will be your email account for this classes assignments make sure that you choose an appropriate "login name". The login name that you choose must be a friendly login name that doesn't offend or shock people. Choosing the right login name is important. If you choose a login name that makes people feel unconfortable, no one will answer your email messages. This will make it difficult for you to complete assignments which require that you correspond with other schools using email. After you finished reading this lesson, go to Hotmail or if you choose, Rocketmail or N2mail and sign up. After you complete signing up write down your new email address on the sign in tablet on my desk. Also, send an email to me at: khcole@hotmail.com . This is the email address that I use for my emerging technology class correspondence. |
