Introduction to the "Create Your Own Fractal" Project
Our next project will involve the study of Fractals a relatively new discovery in the field of mathematics. Fractal mathematics has applications in many other areas of study such as art, music, meteorology, life science, topography, and computer graphics to name a few. We will start with one of the best interactive lessons on the Internet by Cynthia Lanius, an innovative teacher at Milby Science Institute in Houston, Texas.
Our first day in class this year we started with the story of the "Snowflake Fractal and the Shapes Conventions" from the book, Fractals, Googols and other Mathematical Tales by Theoni Pappas. Now we will take a look at Fractals and take a try at creating fractals. Click on the fractal button below to go to our first fractal lesson by Cynthia Lanius, Fractals Unit.
