I am in mourning. Dick is no longer running Winston Cup full-time. I have nobody to cheer for on Sunday afternoons. This is most depressing. Excuse me whil I go pop another Prozac....OK, sorry.
But really, I now have to find another driver for the Sunday afternoons this year. Gordon is just right out. Gotta admit though, that I have a real soft spot in my heart for Bobby Labonte, since Joe Gibbs, one of the three greatest coaches in the game of football, is the owner of the team. For those of you who aren't aware of how great the Redskins were in the 1980's and early 90's, Gibbs coached them to four Super Bowls and three championships, with three different quarterbacks. Now he is a NASCAR owner and Labonte drives his car. Now you see why I pull for Bobby.
But I do not think he should be my new favorite driver. Maybe Rusty Wallace or Jeremy Mayfield. Perhaps I should pick up on a new driver like Dave Marcis.
How about we do this: I will let you select my new driver. Send me the name of the Winston Cup regular driver that I should select as my new favorite. Send your selection to breakfg@yahoo.com and I will post the new driver for 2002 as soon as I get, oh let's say, three votes. Not for one driver, mind you, just three total.
And to provide incentive for sending me your votes, the person(s) who send me the name of my new driver will receive my collection of belly-button lint that I have accumulated over the last five years! Can't beat that, now can ya'? Second place will get an empty beer can, and third will get a used "Major's Tartan Pub" bumper sticker
I could try and keep you updated on all of racing, but that would take way too much time, so I will offer you the following links. If you want more info on Dick, click on his picture. If you want more info on NASCAR, click on this:
