Ode to Dan Coates

I sit down at the ivory keys,
and hit the bottom with my knees
My set of eyes nothing else sees
Yes, I am the King of Cheese

I place my brandy snifter bowl
On my piano, empty hole
For folk to place their money rolls
I start to play with all my soul

A brand new song I never wrote
I modify, and not compose
To make a poesy from prose
I put my love in every note

I make my fingers sing and fly
Till all the ladies sit and cry
The songs I play I did not write
Still I touch them every night

I sit down at the ivory keys,
and hit the bottom with my knees
My set of eyes nothing else sees
Yes, I am the king of cheese

Note 1: Some guy from Michigan wrote saying he's in a band called the Dan Coates (something like that). They all dress up like Dan Coates (with Dan C. masks) and play songs inspired by him. Nifty.
Note 2: Okay, I now have proof to back up my claim that Dan Coates is the king of cheese. Hopefully you hear the midi file playing now. I put this in myself with my shareware midi program and with the Dan Coates book I have (Great Popular Music of the 80's). The selection is "Saving All My Love for You" originally written Gerry Goffin (l) and Michael Masser (m) and of course arranged by Dan Coates. I haven't changed much except that it's supposed to be a piano solo and I put in some cheesy synth-voice type sound for the melody.
Of course, maybe it's hard to tell exactly how cheesy the guy is, since most of the songs he picked were cheesy to begin with.

Speaking of cheesy, here's a banner advertisement for you to look at or ignore. Without it, an annoying popup ad pops up.
