Where I am........ I graduated from the National University of Singapore, from the Department of Information Systems and Computer Science. What I did........ Back in my army "daze", I was trained to be a scout ( not boy-scout ) and became a team leader. I served most of my term in 1st Battalion Singapore Guards after almost a year of on-course training. To be frank, unlike many I enjoyed myself tremendously. During my tour, I visited Thailand, Brunei and Taiwan. However, amongst them Brunei was the worst. Throughout all my time in national service, I experienced the hand of God in my life protecting me in all my trainings, exercises, runs, driving etc. I remember once, for instance, I was on my first heli-rapel jump. I was lowering myself onto the ski of the helicopter about to descend. However, the rope was slack and I could not maintain the 'L-position'. I slipped and did a somersault in the air 40 m above ground. Whew! What an experience. I thank God for He caught me in mid-air and gave me back my grip enabling me to descend safely. Ask me why I think all these are enjoyable I would say it's because of my platoon mates...and of course my God. How it happened........ I first heard of Jesus Christ when I was in De La Salle primary school. Back then we had mass every friday and as a school kid I was rather receptive and had a child-like faith. I did believe that Jesus Christ is God and I prayed to Him every now and then. But it was only in my secondary two year in Hua Yi that my dad's friend came over to our place to share with him about the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ. Surprisingly, my dad decided then to believe too ( he was a free thinker before ). So praise the Lord as for him and his household we all became Christians. From then my family has been attending Queenstown Baptist Church at 495 Margaret Drive road. ( The picture is below. Click it to view its web-site. ) However, I only became more involved in serving God when I was in Anglo-Chinese Junior College. There on the very first day of school I joined the Campus Crusade for Christ ( CCC ) ministry and got to know many Christian friends with whom I still keep in touch. Those two years there were fantastic. I am said so much about myself and I would like to hear from you too. So if you have any comments I would be most glad to hear it. By the way before I go, if any of you would like to know what it means to be a Christian do drop me a mail or visit the this site. It might change your life........ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Loo Wai Kan: loowaikan@yahoo.com "He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose."
