THRIFT SHOP NEWS 2000-2001

DEAR THRIFT SHOP DIARY, 7-09-00

Almost a month into our summer schedule and everything is running smoothly. Our provisionals are a little nervous, but doing great! The nice thing about working in the Thrift Shop is, if you make a mistake, you won’t get fired!(But don’t make too many mistakes because we do hold volunteer reviews at the end of the year, ha ha.) I will be leaving for Italy tomorrow. The store will be left in the capable hands of the board and our great managers. Ciao!

DEAR THRIFT SHOP DIARY, 8-15-00

My how things can change in just 3 weeks. The store is sooo full of merchandise that you can barely walk through it! THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR ALL OF THIS GREAT MERCHANDISE! Our sales have been great all summer. We are making lots of money! PLEASE KEEP CLEANING OUT YOUR CLOSETS AND PICKING UP DONATIONS! Even though we are full right now(we always are in August) things will slow down very soon. We received some extra money this summer from the filming companies: $420.00. I hope they keep the cameras rolling!

Just between you and me Diary, I love this job! I am having a great time at the Thrift shop! I would love to own a retail store somewhere. The only problem is I wouldn’t have such a perfect staff like the women and teenagers of NCL. So I’ll have to be content with my one year "in the business". I’m sure this is a lot better than the reality of running my own business anyway.

THANK YOU TO OUR TERRIFIC TICKTOCKERS WHO WORKED SO HARD THIS SUMMER!!!!!!! THANK YOU TO OUR NEW PROVISIONALS, YOU ARE GREAT! LAST BUT NOT LEAST THANK YOU PATRONESS MOMS FOR GOING WITH THE FLOW AND RUNNING EVERYTHING , SMOOTH AS SILK!

Sincerely,

Thrift shop Chair,

Laura Gorlick

REMINDERS AND CHANGES FOR EVERYONE:

Due to some little problems, only mangers may void on the register. If you are working the register and make a mistake just total your sale and start over. Save the receipt for the manager to void at the end of the day.

Please do not put anything but TOYS in the garage area.

Please be on time.

When you bring donations on the day you work, Please, limit it to about 10 items.

If you would go through friends and relatives donations and remove soiled or poor quality merchandise before bringing it down to the Thrift shop, it would be greatly appreciated. It takes up too much time for us to discard all of the unusable items.

MANAGER REMINDERS:

Money pouches have been removed from the Thrift shop because they are getting stuck in the safe. Please put your receipts in the white envelopes. When placing the envelope in the safe receptacle, remember to place it lengthwise and turn it SLOWLY.

Please always have a worker milling around the back of the store to help discourage shoplifting. Watching our customers is the best option we have to cut down on theft.

When leaving the $50.00 for the next day, count change first and leave all except for what does not equal 1 dollar and then add remainder in one’s, then five’s, etc. until you reach fifty. This eliminates excess change for our Treasurer. THANK YOU.

DEAR THRIFT SHOP DIARY,

I do have one more entry this month. I hope everyone recognizes what a great job our Board is doing. Everyone on our board has been doing their job since May without any problems. They are such pros. I really appreciate their abilities. It has made my job so easy. Thank you very much.

Sincerely,

Laura
