That's right. I suppose I am as much a geographer as I am a writer, and my scholarly work has even been published, and I have given presentations on my thesis topic for professional geographers in the U.S. and in Europe.
I regard geography less as a discipline than as a way of looking at whatever discipline you are interested in, whether it be geology, economics, politics, sociology, anthropology, history or even religion. In my own case, I used geographic and anthropological methods to research and write my master's thesis about the role of religious belief in the land use practices of Mormon cattle ranchers in the Little Colorado River region of Arizona. If there is a huge public demand (yeah, right) for it, I might even post the text here on my page.
Anyway, my geographic interests include historical geography, cultural geography, migration and, of course, maps. I have a particular fascination with explorers, hence my interest in the Lewis and Clark expedition and my first novel.
