Aged Resident of this city dies at age of 94 at Rosemond
KALB- Died, at 5 o'clock Friday morning, January 5, 1917, at the home
of her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Edward Kalb of Rosemon. Mrs Mary E. Kalb,
aged 94 years, a former resident of this city.
The reamins will arrive in this city at 3:30 o'clock this afternoon and
will be taken to the home of the decedent's daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Tayor,
412 East Black avenue. Freinds may view the remains at any time this
evening. Funeral services will be held Sunday, and interment will be
made of Wolf Creek cemetery.
Mrs. Kalb came to Sangamon County, Illinois in 1849 in a covered wagon
from harpers Ferry, VA., where she was born and married. She was born
December 1, 1822, and while yet a small child united with the Methodist
Church. She was married to Jesse Kalb December 17, 1840.
Since the death of her husband, Mrs. Kalb had resided for the past ten
years at the home of her son, Ed Kalb, whose death occurred last spring
As survivors Mrs. Kalb leaves three daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Taylor and
Mrs. Mary J. Bewrey of Springfield and Mrs. Emma Tutwiller of Havana, IL.
one son, Clinton A. Kalb of this city and one brother, James Virts of
Virginia. Also thirteen grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren.
In This city Mrs. Kalb was a member of Kumler M.E. Church.

On the 8th, Absalom Kalb. Friends are invited to meet at the late
residence of the deceased at No# 87 South Seventh Street, at 10 o’clock a.m.
this day, and proceed from thence to the German Methodist M Church, where a
sermon will be preached on the occasion.

Dr. Absalom John Kalb died at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL Dec 16,
1 a.m., of paralysis after a brief illness, age 83. Mr. Kalb was a former
resident of Springfield and will be remembered by Pioneer residents of
this city. He was in the mercantile business here for many years. Dr Kalb
was born on Sept 19, 1817 in VA and came here with Absalom in 1849. Went
to Quincy after several years here. Survived by a widow, 1 daughter 1 son
both in Quincy and by a son living at Chattanooga, Tenn. To be buried in
Oak Ridge.

Mrs. Georgeanna Kalb died Thursday August 6, 1914 at her Quincy
residence, wife of the late Dr. John Kalb. The remains were taken directly
from the train to Oak Ridge Cemetery and buried.

Albert Arthur Kalb, 69, formerly of Springfield died Sunday in
Jacksonville. Mr. Kalb was a lifelong resident and was a clerk in the post
office for 24 years. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lodge No 500. He is
survived by one daughter, Mrs. Dorthea Dodson, 3 sons - Robert, Richard
and Russell, one sister, Mrs. Pearl Fritchman, 10 grandchildren and one
great grandchild, all of Springfield. Services are at 1:30 Wed at Smith
Funeral Chapel. Dr. Beryl S. Kinser will officiate, to be buried at
Roselawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Clara E Kalb, 60, of 731 E Jackson Street in Virden, IL died
at 8:35 p.m. yesterday at memorial Hospital in Springfield. She was born
Oct 20, 1893 in Decatur, IL. She was a charter member of the West Side
Christian Church. She leaves her husband A. Arthur Kalb, daughter Mrs.
Dorthea E. Dodson, sons Russell E. and Robert A. of Springfield, and 1
son Richard O. aboard the USS Cabot. Two brothers, Ferwood A. Reynolds
of Chicago and Merle M. Reynolds of Springfield. Four grandchildren
Russell E. Jr. and Nancy Jo Kalb, Judith M. and Gary A. Dodson.

Mrs. Ethelbert Kalb, nee Forden, in the 27th year of her age has
been suffering greatly the past several months, and on Wednesday underwent
a severe surgical operation in the removal of a tumor. The utmost care
and science was used in the operation, but disease has done its work and
efforts were unavailing. The deceased and family have a large circle of
friends who will be pained to learn of her death.

Edward Kalb died Sunday May 21, 1916 at home in Rosemond, IL
after 1 year illness from cancer. 60 years 2 m 27 day. Survived by wife,
2 daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Crow, his mother Mary E Kalb and 3 sisters,
Lizzie Taylor, Jane Bewley and Emma Tutwiler, 1 brother Clinton.
He was born and raised near Williamsville, Illinois.

Albert Clinton Kalb, 86, of 617 South Douglas Avenue, former carpenter
contractor, died at 1:30 p.m. June 23, 1944 at St. John's Hospital
following an illness of 11 weeks. He was born 13 miles northeast of
Springfield and had resided here since 1890. He was married November 8,
1877 to Amanda Keagle. Surviving are his wife, Amanda; daughter
Mrs. Howard Fritchman, city; two sons, Illa Franklin Kalb, city;
Albert Arthur Kalb, in Auburn, IL; 11 grandchildren; seven great
grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Remains were removed to
Bisch Memorial Home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Amanda Catherine Kalb, 86, of 6117 South Douglas
Avenue, will be held at 3 p.m. tomorrow a the Bisch Memorial Home. Burial
will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Mrs. Kalb, a Springfield resident for 55
years, died Friday afternoon January 27, 1945 at her residence. Her
husband, A.C. Kalb preceded her in death in June of 1944.
