Memorial Service for EricOn Friday, October 23rd, a memorial service was held at the school to commemorate and celebrate the life of Eric Tim Koontz. Eric was a fifth-grader at Kessington and had attended since he was four years old. During his seven years at the school, the staff and students enjoyed his presence and friendship. Friday's service was attended by 72 people representing the many facets of Eric's life, including his family, friends and those involved in other activities that Eric participated in. The service began with a song, "Precious Memories", sung by Tabitha Owens. Rev. Dan Smith spoke on Eric's life and his recent decision to accept Jesus as his personal Savior. Afterwards, everyone gathered on the playground to plant and dedicate a tree to his memory. The children from the school wanted to place a cross under his favorite tree on the playground and so they erected one after the tree was planted. Eric's life has touched many people and his testimony will continue to affect those who carry his memory in their hearts.
