Washington, DC
I have been to the capital many times because I lived
really close by. I still enjoy every visit
and I love to spend time in this untypical American
city. This picture was taken in November 1997 on the Mall in front of the
Lincoln Memorial.
New York City
This picture looks better in real but I love the clouds
and the outlook. It was taken Dec. 31, 1997
from atop of the Empire State Building.
San Francisco
This picture is taken in March 1995 in front of the Coit Tower and shows me and my friend Rabea (right).
Leipzig
Leipzig, the second largest city in Eastern Germany (after
Berlin). The new City Hall is in
the front and the Leipzig University Building in the
back. I passed this intersection every day
on my bike-ride to the University from the place where
I lived.
This is a close-up of the university. The building's nicknames
are "Wisdom tooth" or "Textbook".
The complex was build in the 1970's after a controversial
debate over the destruction of the
old university church.
Dresden
Dresden is the capital of the federal state of Saxony.
I worked for the public transportation
company in Dresden and got to know every corner of the
city. It's a very beautiful place! I also
worked at McDonald's on the main pedestrian mall and
helped many visitors get around and
gave them advice on where to go.
This picture shows the cathedral and the Semper Opera
house. On the right side, invisible because of
the trees, is the river Elbe.
This is the inside of the "Zwinger", one of the amusement places of King August, dem Starken.
This is Prager Strasse (the main street I mentioned above),
and just next to the water fountains
is the McDonald's, my McDonald's...
Saechsische Schweiz
This site is very close to the Czech border and our weekend
house. This is the place,
right across this rock "Lilienstein", where my parents
spend almost every Friday, Saturday
and Sunday. Here again, the river Elbe is just a stone
throw away. I had a wonderful time
with my rowing friends when we toured this region by
boat.
Athens
There is no way I would not mention Athens, and here we go:
By the way, it does not always look like this...
Here is the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism where I spend most of my time (the Alden Library is behind Scripps):
