Be on the lookout for deer, elk, rabbit, javelina, antelope, squirrels, and porcupines!
The vegetation is predominantly ponderosa pine and you can still find a few grand old "yellows" still standing. The bark of these trees is quite sweet and smells like vanilla!
Try cross-country skiing down this trail after the next storm! As you get closer to the
"keyhole", you will pass obliterated roads. The Williams/Chalender Ranger District eliminated these
roads because people driving into the area brought with them trash and noise, disrupting this fragile
ecosystem. Please pack all of your trash (and any you might find) out of the area and help us maintain this natural setting!
