• 1st Gymnasium of Kalamata is the first school in Kalamata and in the whole Messinian district since it was established in 1861.

• Many former students of the school are university professors, doctors, bankers, members of the parliament even former ministers of the Greek government. Famous singer Yanni was one of the students of our school.

• Nowadays, 1st Gymnasium has about 450 students and 29 full time teachers. The school is temporarily lodged in a building in the Southern Kalamata, near the sea. Soon, the school will have a new building in the center of the city.

• Kalamata is a city in the Southern Greece with a marvelous sea and several archeological places visited by thousands of tourists every year.
