Transportation
Transportation is a vital part of our lives don't you think. Without the car, bus, train or aeroplane, we'd have the resort to those god given appendages that support the weight our bodies. Going places that way, by walking, is simply not as efficient as we would want it to be. We couldn't decide offhand if we wanted to be someplace faraway at a given time. Instead we'd have to plan for it and allow for mistakes and the perils of the journey. I have always had an avid interest in transportation. Living in Johor Bahru, the southern tip of Malaysia, and then going to school in Singapore everyday has made me appreciate the good efforts of the Singapore government in providing a "world class transportation system". A short stint in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia's capital, last year had made me witness to the agonizing hardships of a decrepit and inept transportation system. That said however, Malaysia has recently been making much effort to imrpove it's system by building underground trains, and making use of current railway lines to ferry people from the outer reaches of Kuala Lumpur into the main city. The difficulty and complexity of a bigger country in building it's transportation however does not in any way take away the fact that Singapore's is the best that I've seen anywhere.
