Scottish Writer

Kenneth C Steven

Kenneth C Steven was brought up and educated in Perthshire, the county which forms the boundary between the Highlands and Lowlands of Scotland. It has been both the landscape and people of Perthshire which have inspired the bulk of his creative output to date.

He studied at Glasgow University, majoring in Scottish and English Literature, and on completing his degree travelled to Artic Norway for a second year of study. He is a fluent speaker of both major Norwegian dialects and has particular interest in the Sami(Lapp) people and their rich traditional culture. He is currently translating the poetry of a number of contemporary Sami and Norwegian poets.

He has won two Scottish Arts Council Bursaries in the course of the 1990's in addition to a Hawthornden Fellowship. He is now resident in Dunkeld in Perthshire where he is ideally placed to travel throughout the country to conduct readings and creative writing workshops.

Ken has taken numerous classes in creative writing and enthralled many adiences with his expert readings of his works. He is available for either (when he can fit them into his busy schedule) throughout the UK.

He is also keen to reach an international audience and is presently planning a USA tour.
