God's Smile

This is Thy smile

Woven in The sunbeam's caress Upon the sea.

This Thy smile

That tinkles in the voices

Of children at play

Upon the sands.

Thy smile I see

In the eyes of lovers

Walking

Upon the shore,

At evening I, saw Thy smile

Where white roses bend

Over a moonlit wall.

And I heard

Precious laughter

Down the pebbles in the brook Where cool waters run.

Thy smile is permanent

In the hearts of mothers;

Even in pain I've watched

Thy smile

Tucked in the breast of hope.

Even in death I've found it Lighting with radiance

The wings of faith

Thy beloved

Thine all-assuring Smile.
