Permission Slip
State Speech Tournament – Linfield College
April 22, 23 and 24, 2004
On Thursday, April 23 speech students from EPHS will leave the high school at 3:15 P.M. for McMinnville, Oregon in order to participate in the above-described tournament. They will stay at the Best Western, Newberg Inn in Newberg, Oregon on Thursday and Friday nights. The phone number is: 503-537-3000. We will return to Eagle Point at approximately 11 P.M. on Saturday, April 24th.
IMPORTANT-PLEASE READ:
WEATHER AND ATTIRE:
It is cold and rainy this time of year in McMinnville and competition rounds will be held in various buildings around the campus. Students need to WEAR warm coats and carry umbrellas and comfortable walking shoes to change in to when not competing. They should select warm, but professional looking attire to wear during competition. Remember, no sweatshirts, tennis shoes, etc. to be worn during competition. Casual attire has a negative effect on judges and can cost a competitor 1ST, 2ND or 3rd place. Competitors who wish to be taken seriously by the judges, need to look the part.
FOOD: Students should bring either money to buy food; or they may bring a cooler with all the food they can eat for the duration of the stay; or we will go to a grocery store when we arrive on Thursday evening and students may buy enough food to eat while they are at the tournament. They may pack lunches.
MOTEL: There is an indoor pool at the motel. Students are not allowed at the pool or exercise room unless they are with a teammate. Please sign below if you DO NOT want your student to swim.
