Council for Educational Travel, USA (CETUSA) --
Exchange Students

(a non-profit organization)

At this writing, the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, along with the disaster in Pennsylvania, were just over four years ago. These tragedies underscore more than ever the need for world peace, cultural understanding, citizen diplomacy, and international friendship.

Share your hobby, life, and American pride with an international teen. Host an exchange student from Germany, Brazil, Japan, Hong Kong / China, and many other countries for a semester or school year. These teens speak English, are insured, and bring spending money. A local coordinator gets students into schools. Various kinds of families are possible hosts: Childless couples, couples with grown children, single adults, and more. An exchange student may share a room with a teen host sibling. The international teens are usually 16 or 17 years old, and arrive in August or January to stay for a semester, school year, or calendar year. Students from Hong Kong, South Korea, and Bulgaria have already received placements in or near Chattanooga, Tennessee, for their 2005-06 academic program. Past exchange students, as part of their American program, have experienced an outdoor Big Band concert, basketball, soccer, festivals, traveling, an amusement park, Ultimate Frisbee, American football, playing the harmonica ("Take Me Home, Country Road") and participation in Jewish holidays. CETUSA looks for more host families all year long. Please do not think, "Others will volunteer, so I will not." If you have any desire to host, please contact CETUSA today! Hosting is a special way to be an American ambassador. As one CETUSA manager said, "Our hosts and students do more for international relations than our government could ever hope to do." Click here for more information about being a host family and participating in the cultural exchange. CETUSA' s mission is:
"Reaching out to encourage a lifelong journey of global peace and understanding."
CETUSA is proud of its inclusion in the yearly list published by Council on Standards for International Educational Travel (CSIET). For more information, e-mail Betsy, local community coordiantor in the Chattanooga, Tennessee area. She is eager to answer your questions and can talk for a long time about exchange students!
