Notting Hill is a sweet film about an American movie star (Roberts) and a normal English "bloke" (Grant).
Anna Scott and Will Thacker meet in his travel book shop and then once again on the streets when Will spills orange juice all over Anna. This encounter leads to further encounters and Anna ends up going Will's sister's birthday party.
Of course Will's friends are all amazed that his date is movie star Anna Scott. In most movies, this situation would be contrived. In most movies, you would be upset at how many times Anna and Will almost get together, but don't. But Notting Hill isn't like most movies. It's sweet and fun.
The parts I enjoyed most of Notting Hill were Hugh Grant's bumbling lines as Will. Grant is a really funny actor and can deliver some great one liners.
I recommend that you see Notting Hill. It truly is a funny and charming romantic comedy.
