I hate scary movies, but The Others is definately one to see. Nicole Kidman plays an English mother who must take care of her two children while her husband is off fighting in World War I. The movie opens with three servants knocking on Grace's (Kidman) door, looking for work. Grace is desperately in need of some, since her old servants vanished a week ago.
Her children, Anne and Nicholas, have a light allergy, so Grace makes sure they are never exposed to light. This includes them never leaving the house, the drapes being drawn in whatever room they are present in, and the doors always being locked.
Grace is a firm believer in the Bible, so when Anne says she hears noises and sees Victor, a boy, Grace is very upset. More instances occur and then the whole story starts to unravel.
I won't ruin the rest for you, but The Other is a great scary movie. There aren't a lot of things popping out at you, it's more the suspense and music that make the movie tensious and scary. Kidman's performance is wonderful, she deserved at least an Oscar nomination for it.
