Grading Policy

For Sycamore High School's Physical Education Department

 

Grading Policy

Outstanding performance in any of the given areas may result in a 5% increase in the daily grade. Not meeting class expectations in a given area will result in a 5% deduction.

In each of the 4 areas, the student earns a letter grade, based on the scale below, which is comparable to grading in the academic areas.

 

Grading Scale

90 - 100 = A

80 - 89 = B

70 - 79 = C

60 - 69 = D

59 and ¯ = F

 

20%……….written and/or skills test

80%……….4 other areas (20% each area)

 

If a student chooses not to dress for class, 5% will be lost in each of the four areas. Some examples include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

Participation

Sportsmanship/Cooperation

    1. Improper Dress
    2. Lack of effort during warm-up
    3. Lack of effort during activity
    4. Tardy
    1. Equipment Abuse
    2. Good team play
    3. Profanity
    4. Fighting

 

Effort/Improvement

 

Attitude

    1. Improvement in fitness testing
    2. Learning new skills
    3. Helping others
    4. Helping with equipment
    1. Failure to follow directions
    2. Dangerous behavior
    3. Profanity
    4. Insubordination
    5. Disrespect
